Description: From Classic Auctions: Likely the most successful goaltender to wear this style of Greg Harrison-made mask, Mike Liut helped it to become recognized by most as the “Mike Liut style”. After a couple of years with the WHA’s Cincy Stingers, big Mike became one of the best at his trade in the early 1980’s with St. Louis, being named to the NHL’s 1st All-Star Team in ’80-81 and winning the Lester Pearson Award as the league’s outstanding performer in the eyes of his peers. White-painted fiberglass mask shows excellent game use with some chips and scrapes, as well as repair to the slightly cracked base. Original elastic straps are present as is the yellow-painted back plate. Two photos and a hockey card (’83-84 OPC) will be included of Liut wearing the mask, which was originally part of the Richard Curry collection and obtained from him by our consignor, Brian Rogers. A classic style worn by a terrific goalie who racked up 293 NHL wins.
