Description: This 2010 Flyers Stanley Cup Flyers jersey was worn by Michael Leighton in games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The 2009-10 Season was Leighton’s best in the NHL, going 16-5 in the regular season and 8-3 in the playoffs while leading the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals as the 7th seed in the East. Leighton took over in the second round when Boucher got hurt, and helped the Flyers rally from a 3-0 deficit in games to win the series, for only the fourth time in NHL history. In the conference finals, Leighton remained red hot, posting 3 shutouts which tied an NHL record for most shutouts in a single playoff series. In the Finals, Leighton didn’t fair as well against the eventual champion Blackhawks, as the Flyers eventual fell in 6 games. Leighton did win both home games in this jersey, game 3 which the Flyers won 4-3 in OT and game 4 which they won 5-3 to tie the series. The jersey shows nice wear, with several bold puck marks below and to the side of the crest that match up beautifully to game photos. These marks occurred at some point in game 4. There is also a nice mark on the right sleeve numbers that is visible throughout games 3 and 4. The jersey also has light post paint on the sleeves. While the Flyers didn’t ultimately prevail, this jersey was part of a great story where a journeyman goalie got hot at the right time and took an underdog team to the Finals.
