Description: From Gamewornauctions.net: This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Johan Holmqvist during the 2000-01 NHL season, his rookie year. After playing for 4 years in his native Sweden, Holmqvist spent 3 years with the Hartford Wolf Pack after being drafted by the New York Rangers. He earned call-ups to the Rangers in 2000-01 and 2002-03. In 2002-03 Holmqvist won the Jack A Butterfield Trophy as the MVP of the AHL playoffs. Johan then spent a couple of years with the Houston Aeros and a couple more back in Sweden before taking over the starting job for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He held that role for two seasons and was dealt at the deadline in 2007-08 to the Dallas Stars. In 2008-09 Johan returned to the Swedish Elite League, where he is now in his third stint back home in between the pipes.
Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the New York Rangers 75-year anniversary patch. Holmqvist wore this size 58 goalie cut 1st set sweater during his rookie season, when he appeared in a mere 2 games for the big club. Therefore the game wear is noticeably light, as would be expected. Sewn to the inside hem is the official New York Rangers game worn jersey tagging.
