Description: From Classic: Giacomin wore this remarkable blue durene #1 Rangers jersey at the peak of his game in the late-1960s or early-1970s. While the exact season this particular gamer saw active duty is lost to the sands of time, it is of the style worn by the team from 1968 through 1971. This wondrous Giacomin gamer has been examined, authenticated and registered by MeiGray Vintage. A Gerry Cosby tag is sewn into the left rear hem along with a size 48 fly tag. Giacomin's #1, which was retired in his honor by the Rangers on March 15, 1989, is sewn onto each sleeve in red and white twill, with the big red and white twill "1" on the back sewn in the team's distinctive drop-shadow style. This historic tie-down Blueshirts beauty is truly hammered, with team repairs on the front and back, as well as on the left sleeve. Extensive pilling throughout the interior, including both sleeves. An unrepaired vertical tear on the lower right front runs over 5 inches long, with another 3-inch tear on the left breast. Stitching on the front hem has mostly let go. That said, this incredible Eddie Giacomin blue Rangers gamer is a fantastic find. A worthy addition to your Blueshirts/Hall of Fame shrine, it comes along with a letter of authenticity and a certificate of registration from the MeiGray Group.
The jersey matches up to an undated image of Giacomin wearing the jersey in game action, with the location that the knit shoulder yoke intersects the 1’s (this varried from year to year), the jog in the red and white seam in elbow reimforcing, and the offset stiching at the hem side seam.
