Description: From Goldin Auctions:
Boston Bruins goaltender Frank Brimsek wore this jersey during the NHL’s second All-Star Game on November 3rd, 1948, between the NHL All-Stars and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The game took place at Chicago Stadium, and the early tradition was for the defending Stanley Cup Champions to play against a selection of players from the other five teams. Brimsek allowed only one goal during the All-Stars 3-1 win against the Maple Leafs. Brimsek was known for his stand-up style of goaltending and his quick catching hand, as well as taking the feet out of opposing players who got too close to his net. He retired in 1950 and entered the Hockey Hall of Fame as the first American goalie to enter the Hall.
This presented red pullover jersey/sweater was worn by Brimsek during the 1948 All-Star team and features five white stars embroidered on the chest of the jersey. The NHL shield logo is embroidered on the front of the jersey in red and white, with white and blue stripes running the sleeves' length. A McNiece’s Sports Montreal manufacturing tag appears on the inside collar. There are five white stars embroidered on the back of the jersey with the number “0” on blue-on-white tackle twill inside two blue-on-white tackle twill quotes. The jersey displays excellent game use, with bleeding on the white and blue-collar and sleeves. The game-used jersey comes with an LOA from Brimsek and features photographs of Brimsek in his later years holding the jersey.
